Aero Bike Fit Case study on Harrison Wood

Harrison Wood – Age Group (and aspiring Pro) Triathlete

I first met Harrison when I completed his bike fit in my previous role. His first bike fit was the first step of a 3-year process that we’re still carrying out (Winter 2021/22). Within Harrison’s original bike fit, we looked at everything from cleat position and saddle position right through to a more aerodynamic front end to increase overall speed.

Step 2 for Harrison came less than a year later when we replaced the full cockpit on his Planet X Exocet with a much more adjustable and increasingly optimizable setup. At this point, trust was established and we began working together in a coaching capacity as well as continuing to work together on aerodynamic optimisation along the way. 

Harrison’s results really started to improve by the 2020 season and before long we were looking at leaving nothing to chance. For most cyclists, this means a new bike day, and that was the same for Harrison too! I was able to advise on the best pieces of equipment for what he was doing in terms of training and racing, so a Cervelo P5 was our choice. The Cervelo really has helped to take Harrison’s position on the bike to the next level. A full front-end rebuild and at least 3 bike fits
